Learn about Us

There’s no better way to get to know Ryan Kalata than by taking an active role in our campaign. This is your chance to meet our team and the community and learn about our goals and our mission. I will be touring the district periodically and visiting various places within this district. I will be introducing myself and getting to know people in this district who if elected I will be representing. As time goes on I’ll be hosting campaign events and rallies leading up to Election Day come 2024. I will have dates and times listed as to when i’ll be visiting places within the district and when and where I will be hosting my campaign events and rallies.

A few updates that have been made

October 7 2023

Last month I had said that I would have my campaign site updated by the end of that week. I haven’t gotten around to doing the edits I needed to do until now. With my busy schedule between work and errands I didn’t get around to editing my site as soon as I had wanted to. As we all know the cost of living isn’t cheap so unfortunately many people myself being one of them have to work a lot of hours to pay for our expenses. To those who frequently visit this site you will see that I have added a lot of new information. I added where I stand on various issues which weren’t previously listed on the political positions page. I added a page devoted to why I am running for Congress. I am working on the page which will tell you ways you can get involved with helping out with my campaign. I still haven’t put together a schedule of events yet but as soon as I do I will post it.

Party affiliation change

November 19 2023

When I entered this race I decided I was going to run as a Libertarian but I have made up my mind and decided that I will be switching party affiliation and will be running as an Independent. The change in party affiliation is a decision I have come to make based on that I feel as if running as an Independent would be a better fit for me.

District change

February 15 2024

A lot has happened since my last update. As we know George Santos was expelled from the House Of Representatives back in December and a special election was held a few days ago where former representative Tom Suozzi won and took back his old seat. I wish him the best of luck.
With that being said I will be switching districts. Instead of running for the 3rd Congressional District I will instead be running for the 1st Congressional District. The reason for my decision to switch districts is that I would like to represent a district closer to where I live and one I am more familiar with. I myself am currently a NY-01 resident but that could change depending on how the congressional maps are redrawn. The redrawing of the congressional maps also had a lot of influence in my decision to run for NY-01 instead of NY-03.

Signature collection is on it’s way

April 14 2024

The period to collect signatures to get on the ballot is right around the corner. For independent candidates such as myself the period to collect signature starts on April 16  and ends on May 21 with May 21-28 being the timeframe to file with the Board of Elections. As an independent congressional candidate I need at least 3500 signatures in order to get on the ballot. I plan to exceed the 3500 threshold and collect as many signatures as I can between April 16 and May 21.

The more signatures I collect the better and will increase my likelihood of being put in debates which are crucial in elections. It is crucial that the people of the district get to hear from each of the candidates running in the race and where each candidate stands on each position. I would like to partake in any debate in which I am invited to attend.

I plan on driving around to all areas of the district including areas such as Huntington which is currently a part of NY-01 but will become a part of NY-03 in the next Congress and the Shirley-Mastic-Moriches community which is currently located within NY-02 but will once again be a apart of NY-01 in the next Congress.

With that being said I will be putting together a tentative schedule as to when I will be in each parts of the district. While I am in each part of the district I will be introducing myself to fellow NY-01 constituents that don’t already know me, stopping by various spots within the area I plan on touring that day and collecting signatures for me to appear on the general election ballot. Please note that the schedule is tentative and is subject to change. If there are any changes I will make everyone aware of it.

Here are the dates I plan on touring and collecting signatures in each part of NY-01:

Sunday April 21 2024: Sachem community(Holbrook, Holtsville, Farmingville, Lake Ronkonkoma, Lake Grove and Nesconset)

Friday April 26 2024: Huntington area(Northport, East Northport, Greenlawn, Dix Hills, Melville, Huntington, South Huntington, Huntington Manor and Huntington Station)

Sunday April 28 2024: Central Suffolk(Medford, Coram, Selden, Centereach, Setauket, Port Jefferson, Port Jefferson Station, Mount Sinai, Miller Place and Sound Beach)

Friday May 3 2024: Westhampton Hampton Bays area(Eastport, Speonk, Remsenberg, Westhampton, Quogue, Quiogue and Hampton Bays)

Sunday May 5 2024: Smithtown area(Smithtown, Kings Park, Commack, Hauppauge, Saint James and Nissequogue)

Friday May 10 2024: East Pine Barrens region(Calverton, Ridge, Middle Island, Wading River, Shoreham, Rocky Point and Manorville)

Saturday May 11 2024: Shirley-Mastic-Moriches community(Yaphank, Shirley, North Shirley, Mastic, Mastic Beach, Moriches, Center Moriches and East Moriches)
